SAFETY NOTES: Never inhale chemicals directly. Waft the air above the chemical towards you using a wave of your hand.  
   
Part 1: Identifying and Classifying the Smells  
Smelling the Correct Way

Visit each of the six "Smell" stations located at the various benches throughout the lab.

Using a wafting motion, smell each of the unknown samples and record your observations in your lab notebook.

Identify each Unknown Using the information given in the Background, determine the identity of each of the unknowns.
Part 2: Determination and Comparison of Chemical Structures  
Identify the Unknown Models

Using the chemical name given for each of your now identified unknowns. Identify the corresponding chemical structure from the models displayed at the front of the lab.

Draw the structure in your lab notebook.

Note: If a model of your chemical does not appear to be present you may want to re-address the identification you made in Part 1.
