Supporting Documents are to be Included with the FSU Online Application
Before beginning the document section, if you have not already done so, please visit our departmental home page, http://www.chem.fsu.edu, to familiarize yourself with the various academic programs available in Chemistry, the research interests of our faculty and our admissions deadlines.
All applicants to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry: Upload the requested documents into the online application under Supporting Documents and submit in the following order. You are required to use a minimum 12-point font in Arial or Times Roman. Avoid using any symbols in the title of your document (#, !, &, ~, etc.) as these may impede the quality of your submission. The space for each uploadable document is 500 kb. Exclusion of required documents will delay the processing of your application.
CHEMISTRY - M.S. and Ph.D.
- Complete the following sections (A - D) and then save each to your computer under one document title. Next, upload each by clicking on the "UPLOAD DOCUMENT" bar on the Supporting Documents page of the University on-line application.
| Please rank the following areas of interest in Chemistry in order of your preference from 1 - 8, where 1 is most interested and 8 is not interested. Only rank the programs you are interested in. |
- Statement of Goals and Purpose. Provide a statement (1-3 pages) of your goals and purpose in pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry and include a discussion of your research experience and interests. Please upload into DOCUMENT 2 on the Online Application.
- Resume. In your resume provide information about any honors and awards you may have received, teaching experience, research experience (lab experience, honors research or directed individual studies, etc.), scientific publications and presentations, relevant work experience, and any special skills you may have (computer programming, etc.). Please upload into DOCUMENT 3 on the Online Application.
- Transcripts. Photocopies of an official transcript from each college or university that you have attended. Please scan and upload (if possible) into DOCUMENT 4 on the Online Application. Two (2) official transcripts must be submitted to the Florida State University Office of Admissions.
- Test Scores. Photocopies of official GRE and TOEFL (Required for International Applicants). Please scan and upload (if possible) into Document 5 on the Online Application.
- GPA Worksheet. Please print and fill out the GPA worksheet (http://admissions.fsu.edu/images/pdf/gpacompworksheet.pdf) referenced in the Academic Information section of the Online Application. Please scan and upload into DOCUMENT 5 on the Online Application.
- Letters of Recommendation. Three (3) letters of recommendation from professors, mentors and/or employers familiar with your academic and/or research experience. In the online application system click on the Recommendation link and upload your recommendation provider information as directed. The application system will email your recommendation providers and request that they submit a recommendation online. It is important that you have the correct e-mail addresses for your recommendation providers.
All documents must be uploadedÐwith the exception of transcripts and test scores. By uploading all transcripts and test scores, it is possible that your application will be processed more quickly. To allow the Department to begin its evaluation process as soon as possible, please mail any documents you cannot upload to:
