Research Opportunities

Postdoctoral Researchers
The Hanson Research group does not have funding for an additional postdoc at this time. If you are self funded or interested in applying for postdoc fellowships please send a cover letter and complete curriculum vitae to Professor Hanson via email or mail (see addresses below).

Graduate Students
Undergraduate students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry should first apply directly to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Graduate Program. After receiving admission to the Graduate program, please email Professor Hanson if interested in arriving early to participate in summer research (prior to the fall start date). Current FSU graduate students that are interested in joining the Hanson Research Group should email Professor Hanson to set up a meeting or stop by his office in CSL 5006.

Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students interested in Directed Individual Study (DIS) or Honors Research (4 hours in the laboratory per week = 1 credit) should email Professor Hanson a brief statement of goals and interests, an unofficial transcript, and an updated resume or CV. Prior to joining the group and beginning research, undergraduate students are required to have passed general chemistry (CHM 1045 or equivalent), taken FSU safety training and been enrolled at FSU for at least one semester. Students are expected to make a multi-semester commitment to their research projects with the goal of publishing original research results.
