FSU Chemistry Students Take Home Top Honors at FAME 2016


Four FSU chemistry students earned top honors at the American Chemical Society's Florida Annual Meeting and Exposition last weekend in Palm Harbor, Florida. Graduate student Mary Hertz (Latturner group) collected second prize for her poster: Bismuth flux synthesis of novel intermetallic and subhalide compounds. Undergraduate student Kyle Violette (Hanson research group) took home first prize for his poster: Elucidating the role of metal linking inos in self-assembled bilayers. Joseph Accardo (Zhu group) and Samantha Silver (Kennemur group) both took home third prize for their undergraduate student posters: Kinetic investigation of deoxo rhodamine spirolactam ring-opening reactions (Accardo) and Exploring new sustainable polymers using biomass-derived diols (Silver).
