Homework Assignments

A homework assignment for each chapter in Kotz, Treichel & Weaver's "Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity" that we will be covering during this semester is listed below. These LON-CAPA homework assignments are designed to give you practice in the calculations and analysis that you will need to master to excel in this course. The homework assignments are available to you from the beginning of the course up until the posted due date. No answers submitted after the due date will be accepted. The advantage of LON-CAPA is that you will be allowed to enter your responses to the questions up to 15 times so that a perfect score should be possible for every problem. Each of the links below will take you directly to the homework assignment for that chapter.

Once you are at the assignment, each of you will get slightly different versions of the problems to be worked, so you will not be able to copy answers from each other. However, if you have trouble with a problem it is permissible to help each other with strategies for solving it. One way of doing that is to click the "Post discussion" button at the bottom of the problem, where you can post a question, describe some difficulty you are having, or ask for clarification if the question is not clear to you. You can also contribute to the discussion by making suggestions to others who are having trouble. The TA's will monitor this discussion and can also offer help, and they can check your problem if you think there is an error in the computer grading. A computer coding error, or a system glitch, can occasionally arise. You should post reports of those in this discussion list as well.
