CHEMATHON 2004 Florida State University

Every Spring, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, as part of a state-wide outreach program initiated by the Florida section of the American Chemical Society (ACS), hosts “CHEMATHON”, a scholastic competition for high school students in the Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Liberty, Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Franklin, Madison, Jackson, Wakulla and Taylor county areas. Invitations are open to all public and private certified high schools in these counties. THIS YEAR’S EVENT WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY MAY 4, 2005.

Chemathon is a team competition for students who have had, or will soon be completing, at least one year of high school chemistry.

Teams consist of 4 students and each high school is allowed to bring up to 3 teams to the competition.

Competitions consist of a team laboratory activity and an individual and team scored chemistry examination.

There will be team awards in both the laboratory activity and examination. There will be individual awards for the chemistry examination and also for the state wide competition.

Registration fees will be $ 7.00 per student or teacher in attendance Lunch and awards are included in the registration fee. Please fill out the registration form and mail it to
