NATURAL PRODUCTS DRUG DISCOVERY:  INTERESTING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN CHEMISTRY. Bill J. Baker, Department of chemistry, University of South Florida, 4202 E. Fowler Ave CHE205, Tampa, FL  33620.

Few students evaluating career choices realize that several fields of chemistry involve field work.  Marine natural products chemists enjoy travel to many distant locations and scuba diving in often exotic locations.  Taken with the allure of drug discovery – curing diseases – the presentation of a natural products drug discovery lecture to high school students has proven effective at capturing their imagination.  An example of a high school-level marine natural products drug discovery lecture, based in Antarctica, will be discussed.

Filenames should indicate the author or company and poster session. Example: dillon_poster.doc

Please email your abstract to Stephanie Dillon.
