Get Ready to Join the Quantum Workforce

The FSU Graduate Certificate in Quantum Information Science & Technology is housed within the FSU Quantum Initiative and designed for graduate students and working professionals seeking rigorous training across the full breadth of quantum science — from topological materials and quantum sensing to algorithms, communication, and quantum devices.

Format
Courses are offered in Fall and Spring semesters, with a weekly seminar series running throughout the academic year.
Eligibility
Open to current FSU graduate students majoring in relevant STEM disciplines, as well as to external post-baccalaureate applicants.
Credit Hours
14 credit hours required: one mandatory course in quantum computing, three elective courses, and weekly seminars.
Completion Time
Typically completed in 2–3 semesters. Courses may count toward a PhD or MS degree with approval of the corresponding program at FSU.

What the Certificate Requires

    Graduate School Enrollment
    Students must be enrolled in or admitted to an FSU graduate program, or apply as a non-degree-seeking graduate student. A bachelor's degree in a STEM field is required, with the minimum GPA of 3.0.

    Certificate Coursework
    Quantum Information and Computing — mandatory (3 credits)
    Three elective courses from the approved list (9 credits)
    The coursework should be passed with the minimum GPA of 3.0.

    Seminar Requirement
    Two semesters of Quantum Science & Engineering Seminar (1 credit/semester). Satisfactory completion requires ≥ 80% attendance and written reflections on two seminars of choice.
