Graduate

Edgar Gonzalez-Rodriguez

Edgar earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical Pharmaceutical Biology from Universidad LaSalle in Mexico City. He is currently working on combining stereoelectronics, traceless directing groups, and dynamic covalent chemistry for the design of alkyne cascades towards carbon-rich molecules and materials.

Email

Michael Maxwell

Maxwell obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from University of North Carolina at Greensboro under Dr. Mitchell P. Croatt. He currently focuses on developing radical synthetic methods to forge carbon-nitrogen bonds.

Email

Adam Campbell

Adam completed his B.Sc. in Chemistry at Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida. He is synthesizing compounds for the photochemical release of ketones and aldehydes.

Email

Febin Kuriakose

Febin Kuriakose received his BS-MS in chemistry from IISER Thiruvananthapuram, India in 2016. He joined Florida State University in 2016 to pursue PhD in the laboratory of Professor Igor V. Alabugin. His research focuses on the design, synthesis and study the properties of functionalized carbon-rich materials.

Undergraduate

Miguel Abdo

Miguel graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Chemsitry. He started working with the Alabugin group on double peri-annulations during his undergraduate study, and has continued the work upon graduation. Since graduating, he has worked in the group as a laboratory assistant and expanded his abilities to computations focused on stereoelectronic effects in organic molecules and reactions. He plans on pursuing his Ph.D. in computational chemistry.

Morgan Skala

Morgan is from Jacksonville, Florida and is finishing her bachelor's in Chemistry. She has been working with Dr. Alabugin since her freshman year here at FSU. She is now completing her undergraduate thesis involving double peri-annulations to access nanographenes.

Angel Chu

Angel is from Pensacola, FL. She is at Florida State University completing her B.S. in Biochemistry, hoping to become an industrial polymer chemist. She is currently working on a new method for creating substituted pyrenes using a photochemical, radical pathway.

Alexandria Palazzo

Alexandria is a third year undergraduate from Pembroke Pines, FL. She currently works with Nikolas Dos Santos in the understanding and development of new photochemical pathways to novel PAHs. Although previously a Biology major, she is now pursuing a B.Sc. in Chemistry. She intends to pursue a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and begin her own discoveries after she graduates.

Patricia Mehaffy

My name is Patricia Mehaffy and I am pursuing a major in Chemistry. I work under Febin in Alabugin's group and we study the design and synthesis of functionalized carbon-rich materials.

Curtis DeShong

Hi my name is Curtis DeShong and I am a second year Biochemistry student. After college I am planning on attending graduate school to study chemistry.

Josef Maselli

Josef was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He is currently an undergraduate student studying Cell and Molecular Neuroscience. His interests are in the design and understanding of PAHs within the laboratory. He is pursuing a career as an orthopedic surgeon and plans to apply to medical school after graduation.

Jordan Suarez

Jordan was born in Cali, Colombia, and later moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL when he was 2 years old. He is currently a fourth year undergraduate student at Florida State University.
