Memorandum To: CHM 1045 Recitation Instructors Dillhyon, Martin, Callihan, Guile From: Robley Light Date: January 29, 1995 Re: Recitation 3, week of January 22 Attached is a key to the quizzes in both sections, in case you have students attending from both. Make another effort to get people in your section going to the right lecture (or vice versa), and give a little time for the students to firm up their groups, and to get late registrants into a group. Go over the following: Calculating average atomic weights from isotope distribution. Calculating molecular and formula weights. Calculating per cent compostion from MW and FW. Interconverting moles, grams, # of atoms or molecules. Calculating empirical formulas from percent compostion data. From grams of one reactant or product in a chemical reaction, calculate grams of another reactant or product. Calculate the limiting reagent from reactant quantities, and the amount of product produced from the limiting reagent quantity. (If there is time, which I doubt, you could move on to molarity.)
