The inaugural Undergraduate Summer
School on Magnetism and Magnetic Materials (US-MMM)
sponsored by the FSU and organized by the CMMM took place on
July 30 - August 8. The school program included lectures on
various topics in magnetism (fundamentals, EPR and NMR
spectroscopy, itinerant magnetism, nanomagnetism,
single-molecule and single-domain magnetism, spintronics),
as well as practical sessions (synthesis and X-ray
diffraction, magnetic and photomagnetic measurements,
high-field and on-chip EPR spectroscopy). The school was
attended by 13 undergraduate students selected from a
nationwide pool of applicants.
The next summer school is planned for
