Dr. Biwu Ma is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida State University (FSU) and an affiliated faculty member of the Materials Science and Engineering Program. He joined the FSU faculty in August 2013 as part of the University’s Materials and Energy Initiative.
Dr. Ma was born in 1980 in Wenzhou, China. He received his B.S. degree in Composites from Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) in July 2001, before moving to the United States for graduate studies. He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Southern California (USC) in December 2005, where he conducted research on organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) under the guidance of Professor Mark Thompson. He subsequently completed postdoctoral research with Professor Jean Fréchet in plastic electronics at the University of California, Berkeley, for two and a half years. Dr. Ma began his independent research career as a Staff Scientist at the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in June 2008.
