SYLLABUS

Even those of you who claim you are not going to be a chemist are (fortunately) doomed to perform chemical experiments for the rest of your life. Although that sounds ominous it really isn't. It simply means that every time you "do the wash", take a bath or bake a cake, you are performing chemistry. The usefulness of all common household chemicals such as bleach, baking soda or toothpaste is based on their chemical or physical properties. In this lab, we are going to use those properties to identify some unknown chemicals that may at this very moment be in your kitchen cabinet.
